Hula Hālau ‘Ohana Holo‘oko‘a welcomes hula students of all levels of experience. New adult hula students are accepted the first class of each month.
BEGINNING Hula:
Thursday – 7:30 to 9pm
This class is for all new students, regardless of previous hula experience. This class introduces you to hula basic steps, hand motions, dance posture, Hawaiian language and culture, chanting and songs. Costuming and performing are optional.
INTERMEDIATE Hula:
Thursday – 5:45 to 7:15pm
Beginning students will advance to the Intermediate level of hula upon instructor assessment and approval. The Intermediate hula dancer has built strong hula basics, is able to easily put hand and feet motions together, can learn dances quickly, has knowledge of the Hawaiian language and can perform more difficult dances and motions. Costuming and performing for this class are mandatory.
ADVANCED Hula:
Sunday – 4:30 to 6:00pm
Intermediate students will advance to the Advanced level of hula upon instructor assessment and approval. The Advanced hula dancer has many years of solid hula experience, is able to perform all levels of hula with all traditional hula implements, has thoroughly learned movements and meaning and can perform all dances taught.
Costuming and performing for this class are mandatory.
PRIVATE LESSONS:
Private lessons are available throughout the week during day and evening hours.
How to Enroll:
After notifying Lisa Chang by e-mail or phone that you plan on joining us, please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of your first class to fill out a registration form. Registration, tuition and your uniform fee should be paid in advance so your uniform and packet will be ready for you.
Hālau Uniform:
All students of Hula Hālau ‘Ohana Holo‘oko‘a are required to purchase the Hālau Uniform and wear it to class every week. The Hālau Uniform consists of a Hālau T-shirt and Hālau pa‘u skirt for females, and a Hālau T-shirt and black shorts for males.
